***Keanu is still navigating sharing his space, stuff and person with another foster cat, and undecided if he is completely onboard. However, the presence of another cat has prompted Keanu to become VERY affectionate and cuddly with his human. So we think Keanu will do nicely with just people to play and bond with…
He will sit up tall and puff out his chest but this cat has a sweet, gentle, and sensitive soul. Once an infamous Etobicoke street cat, Keanu is learning to love life inside, with access to an infinite supply of pets, cuddles, and a daily treat!
He plays “hard to get,” but a few scratches behind the ears and he will melt into your arms (look out, he may even start to drool)! Keanu is still getting his bearings around humans, so always approach slowly as he warms up to you. He is still wary of sudden movements and noises so a calm and peaceful household will be the ideal environment for him to continue coming out of his shell.
As his confidence grows, Keanu is becoming more vocal. His meows range from “when’s dinner?” to “hey, what’s going on?” to “is the coast clear? Give me privacy as I use my litter box!”
Keanu startles easily. If he runs away, give him the space to come back on his own time. Don’t you worry…he WILL come back soon for more loving! Play your cards right, and he will become your shadow. When Keanu trusts you, he is a textbook “velcro cat.”
In his foster home, Keanu has some experience living with another cat. Just like with humans, Keanu needs time to slowly warm up to other cats. He can also be territorial, so maintaining his own safe space, food, and private litter box is essential if he’s joining a home with other cats. But it seems Keanu will prefer to not have to share everything with another cat, and we should honour that preference.
Keanu is strong, agile, and no doubt was an adept hunter in his time. Daily play time with a Cat Dancer will let him exercise his mind and body. And when he gets the zoomies, sit back and enjoy the show. He becomes hyper-active to the max, practically bouncing off the walls! It’s good fun.
With every passing day, Keanu grows more confident and sure of himself. He may take his sweet time warming up to you but every minute of patience will be rewarded. When you plop down on the couch at the end of a long day, he will hop up to meet you, ready for a scratch behind the ears.
