Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption

Hi, my name's Heather. I came from a huge group of cats (over 100!) and I'm just learning how to be a companion, so I've got a lot of conflicting emotions. I tend to be very cautious of new people and will be VERY clear about how I'm feeling. I like to talk a lot - well, I like to whine a lot. At least that's what they tell me - I call it communication. I complain when you come on too strong, I complain when you don't pet me, I complain when you do pet me. Basically, I have high standards, and I'd like to see you try to meet them. I've made friends with some of the staff (minimal standards) and they say I'm the biggest love once I'm comfy...and maybe a diva...whatever.
Here's what you need to know about me:
I can be nervous around new people. It just takes me a little while to get comfortable. But once I get to know you, I'm very loving.
I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things very slow in my new home. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.
If there are kids in my new home, I prefer them to be older than 12 and need to meet them before going home. An adoption counselor can tell you more.
