Whirly was caught during a TNR project in Mechanicsburg in a senior apartment community. After being neutered and vaccinated, we gave him a few days to recover and ride out the coming snowstorm before his release, but discovered he is friendly and deserves a chance at an indoor home rather than a return to the outdoors.

Whirly is about one year old, fixed, and up to date on all vaccines. Unfortunately, he is FIV+ but can still live a long and healthy life either as an only cat, with other FIV+ cats, or in a home with calm, well-behaved other animals. We checked him over for wounds, bite marks, or other spots where it could have been transmitted to him and found none, so we think he may have simply been born to an FIV+ mother and carried the condition from birth.

We are still in the process of socializing Whirly, so he has not yet been introduced to dogs, children, or other indoor cats. He is still somewhat fearful but shows no aggression, can be handled, and will immediately curl up and begin purring when held. We continue to watch and wait for his full personality to emerge - so far, he is a gentle and timid little guy who enjoys being cuddled in a blanket and eating treats directly from your hand.

We are looking for someone willing to open their heart and home to Whirly and give him the love and patience he needs to safely blossom into the indoor kitty we know he can be.
