I have had the privilege of fostering this brother and sister for the past five weeks. They came in as a family of three, two boys and one girl. However, their little brother, Shane, needed life-saving surgery and was separated from them for about three weeks. During that time, these two bonded. They love to be together and get very upset when separated. And they watch out for each other, expressing concern if foster mom is administering medicine, for instance. You’ll find them always together, either playing or napping. That’s why they need to be adopted together. They may be a bit shy when in the shelter or when you first meet them, but they’ll be loving, fun, and playful once they settle into your home. Let me tell you about each of them. I tell everyone that Ilya is the ideal cat because he will be whatever you want him to be at the moment. He was incredibly sociable and loving from the moment I met him. You want a lap cat? Sit down, pat your lap, and he’ll jump in, cuddle up, start purring, and look at you adoringly, for as long as you want. I let him snooze on my lap for hours while in meetings during the workday. You want him to play? He will play as long as you want to. He loves wand toys and the cat dancer wire toy. He is super chatty. He’ll tell you everything that has been happening when you were out of the room. I say that he’s the spokesperson for the family. And he always wants to be with you. He will follow you anywhere. He purrs the moment you pick him up and he makes biscuits all the time, while laying on your lap, while walking, while eating, while in the air. He is so loving, your heart will burst. He does inhale his wet food. I got him a lick mat to try to slow him down, but it didn’t do much good. As soon as he finishes his food, he tries to steal his sisters. That’s when I take him to a different room, to allow her to finish. Hopefully, he’ll grow out of that the more he realizes that food will always be available to him.
