Jinx (ACCT-A-241448) is an approximately 4-year-old female cat who came to us as a stray on 1/16 in very fragile condition, suffering from severe emaciation, hypothermia, and hypoglycemia. She was immediately transferred to an offsite hospital for intensive care and is now on the path to stabilization.
Jinx remains at the offsite hospital until tomorrow and will need a foster or rescue placement where she can continue her recovery in a safe, supportive environment and be given the opportunity to fully heal and thrive.

Cardiovascular: Abnormal - Bradycardic with weak pulses
Musculoskeletal: Abnormal - Laterally recumbent, weak, unable to support weight
Neurologic: Abnormal - Obtunded, minimally responsive to stimuli, pupils bilaterally mitotic and nor responsive to light
Integument: Abnormal - Dull hair coat
Bloodwork:
Blood Glucose: 43 - administered 2.5 mls Dextrose IV diluted
CBC, Chemistry and Electrolytes: WBC 17.21 (H), Neutro 14.41(H), Eosinophils 0.02(L), suspected Bands, Glucose 234 (after dextrose bolus), Creat 0.4 (), BUN 41 (H), Na 145 (L), Cl 108 (L), TP 5.3 (H), Albumin 2.1 (L), ALP 12 (L), Amylase 431 (L)
PCV and TS: 37% and 6.0
Blood Glucoses Overnight:
112 am: 237
2am: 59 (confirmed)- administered dextrose bolus and increased to 5% dextrose
4 am: 198
6am: 243
Diagnostic imaging AFAST: no obvious free fluid
Additional diagnostics Blood Pressure: too cold at intake
Assessment:
1. Hypoglycemic and Hypovolemic shock
2. Hypothermia
3. Hypoglycemia
4. Poor Body Condition
About 1-2 hours after admittance patient was much brighter and responding well to treatment"
On 1/16 CVT exam: "Presented to back office as a stray.
Laterally recumbent, minimally responsive. Noted P is severely emaciated.
Temp too low to read ( <90.2 degrees F). Eyes, ears, nose are clean and clear. Teeth clean, white, gums white, dry. Coat relatively clean. Prolonged STT. Paws very cold to the touch x 4. BG: 33. Placed IVC in R cephalic, 26g x 3/4 in. Gave 10ml saline IV with 0.25ml of 50% dextrose. Placed in incubator."
