Hunter ACCT-A-238269 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Hunter must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by FRIDAY, JULY 10TH at 10AM. Should Hunter's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Hunter was surrendered to ACCT Philly on July 3rd after his owner moved to a home where pets were not allowed. He had also recently been hospitalized for urinary issues. Hunter is described as a sweet, affectionate cat who loves attention once he warms up to someone, though he can take some time to build trust with new people. In the shelter, he has been quiet and watchful, tolerating handling and photos while he settles in. At home, his owner says he was playful and high-energy, enjoying toys, climbing, and chasing, and he got along wonderfully with people, children, and other cats
Hunter has FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease) and is considered at high risk of developing a urinary blockage, which can become an emergency if it happens. Because of this, he urgently needs to leave the stress of the shelter environment as soon as possible. Due to his medical concerns, Hunter is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or experienced adopter.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:
Per staff 7/4: Quiet boy, just watched me and allowed me to take pictures. Wasn't too keen on letting me pet but did tolerate my presence. Wish I could've spent more time with him and earn his trust a little bit more. Seems super chill so far.
Per owner surrender notes 7/2: Hunter is fully litter trained. He is high energy and enjoys mouse toys, a laser pointer, balls, cardboard boxes, tunnels, and bubbles. He likes independent play, hiding, playing with people, running around and getting zoomies, hunting, scratching posts, and being petted. He uses carboard scratches and rope scratch maps, but also scratches on furniture. He likes Friskies wet, dry, and Party Packs. He is super friendly with strangers, children, and other cats, but reacts aggressively toward dogs (My son and I traveled to my sister's house in Orlando with our cat Hunter. As soon as we got there Hunter ran out of his carrier to chase my niece's dog and started a big fight. And they kept fighting every day until our one month trip was over). He responds to his name when called loud and firm. His ideal home would be a cat-loving family that can give him attention. The best thing about him is once he gets used to you he doesn't let you out of your sight. He's such a beautiful, loving cat. He loves and always seeks affection. His owner describes him as a beautiful, loving cat who always seeks attention, and once he gets used to someone, he doesn't let them out of his sight.
MEDICAL NOTES:
7/5 Vet Check: Urinary bladder soft and small on palpation. FLUTD, hematuria. Ok to extend promotion at this time. Recommend leaving due to high risk of obstruction in stressful shelter environment.
7/4 Tech Check: I checked the patient at 6:10 PM. There was no urine in the litter box, though it is possible it had already been cleaned. Upon palpating the abdomen, the patient was too tense to feel the bladder well, but the area seemed non-painful. Patient is BAR, mm pk/moist, RR/HR normal.
7/3 Vet Exam: Urinary bladder soft, small, and easily expressible. Slight hematuria noted. Prescribed buprenorphone, gabapentin, and a urinary diet (surrendered with a bag of Hill's c/d food). Urgent promotion to rescue due to high risk of obstruction in stressful shelter environment.
Per owner 7/2: Monday morning Hunter was making some weird noises and when my checked him he had blood all over him. We took him to the hospital the doctor found out that he has urine infection. He has been kept for 4 days and discharged today. Blood in urine/pinkish tint to urine. Occasional hairballs or vomiting of food.
