Meet Lotus – the sweetest little survivor
Lotus is estimated to be somewhere between 5–8 years old, and while we don’t know her exact past, we do know she’s been through more than any cat ever should. She was found living inside a local grocery store, greeting shoppers. One customer noticed she was in rough shape and needed help right away and that moment changed her life.
When Lotus came into our care, she was in very poor condition. She had been shot with a pellet gun in two places (her chest and lower spine), had a severe uterine infection, and an impacted colon. Despite everything she’d endured, she still had a gentle spirit. After surgery and dedicated care, she has made an incredible recovery and is now ready for a safe, loving forever home.
Lotus is affectionate but shy. She clearly wants to trust people and shows it in the sweetest ways. She loves gentle pets on her face, chin, and cheeks, and will lean into your hand with those big, hopeful eyes. Her back end is still a bit sensitive, so she may give a swipe if touched there, but it’s simply her way of setting boundaries after everything she’s been through.
Her only ongoing medical need is occasional constipation. She does very well with a small daily amount of Restoralax mixed into her food. It’s affordable, easy to find at any pharmacy, and one container lasts for months. To help her settle into her new home, we’ll send her with a six-month supply. She also still carries a bit of extra weight in her belly, confirmed by X-rays to just be belly fat, so keeping her at a healthy weight will be important for her comfort and long-term health.
Lotus does well with our gentle senior dog and is very submissive around other cats. She prefers calm, kind companions and would need slow, steady introductions in a home with other pets. More dominant cats tend to scare her, so a quiet environment would suit her best.
What Lotus needs most is a home where she is safe, cared for, and never treated like a nuisance. She deserves someone who sees her for the gentle, resilient, loving cat she is. Beneath her shy exterior is a sweet soul who still believes people can be kind.
If you’re looking for a quiet, affectionate companion and want to give a true survivor the peaceful life she’s always deserved, Lotus may be your perfect match. Those hopeful eyes are just waiting for someone to call her their own.
Lotus has had her adoption fee covered by our generous donors. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.
