Forte was brought in with his siblings after they were living as strays. These poor guys were out in freezing weather and were nearly frozen by the time our Humane Agents got them. Luckily, we were able to get them warmed up and placed in a foster home until they were old enough to be brought back to the shelter. With this litter of kittens, when getting them combo tested, it turned out that half the litter was positive for feline leukemia virus (Felv). Cats with Felv live normal lives, but their life spans are typically shorter than an average cat. After diagnosis, the average is 2-3 years but can be longer with a healthy, indoor lifestyle. Our vet recommends they be retested when they are 6 months old as the results could be a false positive due to their age. With this in mind, we are looking to place them in home as the only cat until we know for sure if they are positive or not. Two kittens from the litter could also be adopted together as long as they are both positive/negative.
Forte tested positive for Felv. He is such an energetic and playful boy! Forte is so friendly and hopes to find a family as soon as possible!
