Meet Fig - A Tiny Survivor with the Biggest Heart
Fig may be small, but his story is nothing short of extraordinary.
This sweet little kitten was brought into a local veterinary emergency hospital after being found outside in the extreme cold and snow, weak and unable to walk normally. Shortly after arriving, his skin began to slough off due to what we believe was severe frostbite. Thankfully, the incredible team at the ER stepped in to begin the advanced care he desperately needed, and Fig soon became part of the Pawsitive Hope family.
Since then, Fig has shown the world just how resilient a tiny kitten can be. He has undergone two surgical debridement procedures, battled a serious infection that required specialized antibiotics, and received weeks of intensive wound care and light therapy. Through it all, Fig has remained unbelievably sweet and full of life.
Today, he is a happy, playful, affectionate little kitten who truly loves everyone he meets.
Fig absolutely adores other animals. He loves playing with his foster brother Milo the cat, respectfully gives space to hsi older foster sister who isn't quite as impressed with his energy, and even enjoys romping around with his foster's big, goofy golden retriever. He would likely do wonderfully in a home with another friendly pet who can be his buddy.
Despite everything he has been through, Fig is still a typical playful kitten who loves toys, exploring, and wrestling with his friends. But he also has a very soft and cuddly side. One of his favorite things is snuggling under the covers and curling up on your chest or tucked under your neck while you relax.
Because of the trauma to his body, Fig will always be considered a special medical needs kitten. The frostbite caused significant scar tissue and tightening of the skin on his lower half, which affects the way he walks and limits some of his mobility. While he moves around, plays, and enjoys life, he will never have completely normal movement in his rear limbs.
There is also a possibility that he could develop early arthritis or mobility challenges later in life, so his future family should be prepared for ongoing veterinary monitoring and potential medical care as he grows.
None of this slows Fig down. He is joyful, loving, curious, and full of personality. His unique fur regrowth and scars are simply reminders of how strong he is.
Fig's ideal home will be one that:
Can provide gentle handling and thoughtful care as he continues to heal
Is committed to regular veterinary care and monitoring
Fig has already overcome so much in his young life. What he needs now is a family willing to see the incredible little survivor he is and give him the safe, loving home he deserves.
