Upon first meeting Savannah, her large, bright eyes and distinctive tabby pattern immediately draw attention. Savannah is a loving and affectionate cat. She has consistently demonstrated her affection and desire for attention. She has never indicated reluctance to be petted, held, or picked up. She relaxes completely when held, curling in your arms and nuzzling hands to seek further attention. If you're occupied and unable to play with her, she entertains herself independently. She enjoys sleeping on the bed and sitting beside you on the couch or on the armrest. Wherever you are, she prefers to be nearby.
Savannah is able to live with other cats and, in particular, with dogs, provided she receives a proper introduction, especially to playful or energetic dogs. In my home, she coexisted peacefully with three dogs--one large and young (american pit bull terrier), and two senior dogs of medium and small size (cocker spaniel and dachshund). She also lived harmoniously with my three male cats, all of whom previously lived in a colony. With a gradual and appropriate introduction, Savannah is able to understand a dog's temperament. Once she recognizes that she is not at risk, she accepts playful behavior from dogs. While she does not participate in play, she neither reacts aggressively nor overreacts. Savannah is well-suited to living with mild-mannered, non-dominant cats. She is neither dominant nor aggressive by nature, but she does not adapt well to living with dominant cats.
Savannah is FIV and FeLV negative, spayed, and up to date on shots. She'll be at Petco Union Square starting Saturday February 14!
