🇺🇸

March 5th
male, medium, adult

DESCRIPTION

Badam comes all the way from Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic where many animals are mistreated or left to survive on harsh streets. We rescue them and fly them to the United States so they can finally experience safety, care, and the bright future they deserve.

Badam has endured unimaginable pain — a reality that sadly reflects the lives of many stray animals in Azerbaijan. His story is truly heartbreaking. When he was only five months old and desperately searching for food, he wandered into a cafe hoping for a small piece of meat. Instead of kindness, he was met with violence. A butcher attacked him with an axe, severely injuring his leg and leaving him with life-changing trauma at such a young age.

Although the wound made it difficult for him to walk and caused an infection, it was not an injury that required amputation. With proper, long-term treatment, he could have recovered.

A compassionate girl stepped in to help and took responsibility for Badam, bringing him to a nearby veterinarian. Unfortunately, she was told that his lower leg needed to be amputated. The procedure was performed incorrectly — the leg was cut and stitched in the wrong place. A week later, the bone protruded through the improper stitches, causing Badam severe pain and further complications.

With no other options at the time, the girl ultimately surrendered Badam to us. In reality, his leg did not need to be amputated at all. Medical experts later confirmed that with proper stitching and treatment, he likely would have healed and been able to walk again. The veterinarian’s mistake is the reason Badam now lives as a three-legged cat.

Despite being a tripod, Badam is now pain-free, comfortable, and thriving. He is just 10 months old and already carries such a joyful and gentle spirit. Badam is incredibly affectionate, he loves being close to people and soaking up attention and pets. He forms wonderful bonds with dogs and other cats and gets along beautifully with them. His sweet nature and loving personality make him impossible not to adore.

Badam is currently waiting for his flight to a new life. He is ready to leave his days at the shelter behind and is to meet the forever family he deserves.

Badam doesn’t see himself as missing a limb, he sees himself as having more room in his heart for love.

He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
