Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption

ZIGGY Is BACK! He was first brought into the shelter as a stray, in Feb. 2025. His rescuer had wanted to make him a part of his household but unfortunately, his other cats wanted no part of the new guy.

ZIGGY was afraid and took some time getting use to things. He avoided interaction with everyone, human and feline alike. ZIGGY needed to be approached slowly. He allowed pets, but the second you were done, he went back to hiding. We suggested he might be best in a quiet home, possibly as an only pet.

He was adopted in 7/25. Unfortunately, his new owner has moved to Florida and surrendered ZIGGY back to us as he was leaving town.

ZIGGY is, once again, hiding in his kennel. He is terrified and who knows what he is thinking, having this happen yet again! The recent owner gave us little information about his 6 months with ZIGGY, but ZIGGY is pretty much mirroring the way he was the last time he came here. With his nervous nature, ZIGGY probably would not do well in a home with young children. Ziggy was afraid of the chaos that happens in the shelter the last time, so he probably would not do well with cats and may be terrified of dogs as well. Since ZIGGY is nervous, older children (12 or older) should understand that he may not be a playmate but could become a snuggle buddy once he trusts them. We, of course, will work to make him comfortable and to give him back some of the self-confidence he may have gained the past six months.

When ZIGGY is adopted again, he will need time to regain the confidence in his new guardian and trust that he has finally found his forever home. Perhaps a quiet home with a very patient someone who is settled and wants a kitty who needs to feel safe and loved. It may take a bit of time, but once that trust is gained, the reward will be a lifetime of sweet, loving companionship for you both!
