Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption

Marguerite is one of those special cats who spent a long time at our rescue - she broke our hearts because we knew she was capable of love but we worried she didn't think she deserved it. This 8-year-old lady was never quite comfortable in our rescue setting and we knew she needed a change, so we recently placed her in a loving foster home. The transformation has been incredible! She is the perfect example of what a loving home environment can do - Marguerite is a chatty, affectionate, social and sweet little lady. We can't wait for her to now thrive in a forever home.

All this beautiful girl needed was a chance to show her potential. According to her foster, Marguerite is very sweet and loving. She follows her foster from room to room with a soft meow asking for pets. She is a lap kitty! She loves to share her loud purr and loves to carry on a conversation with her foster. Give her some gentle pets and she will start to make biscuits, showing her contentment. She will seek out attention and love. Marguerite is not yet completely comfortable with being picked up, but if her foster pats where she wants her to go, she will jump right up to the spot. She sleeps next to her foster in bed too!

Sadly, Marguerite was overlooked during her time at NAWS. Being an older cat that was sometimes stressed at the rescue didn't help. She needs to be someone's one and only pet. She is also FIV positive, making her quest for a forever home even more difficult. Unfortunately her FIV diagnosis can scare away potential adopters, but with the right care and diligence, Marguerite can have the most fulfilling golden years. All of these factors have made it more difficult for her to find her happily ever after, but we are not giving up hope. She has blossomed in her foster home, and we know she can in your home too. She just needs a chance to show you!
