BENEDICT

Domestic Short Hair
🇺🇸
Minneapolis, Minnesota
April 12th
male, medium, baby

DESCRIPTION

Benedict is a super friendly, 1-year-old tabby looking for loving home, ideally with another pet in the home.

Benedict LOVES being pet and has a purr that sounds like a motor running. He has even pushed past his initial fears of a new environment just to follow you for more pets.

Benedict likes to take long naps in the sun on his cat tree, what cat doesn't? As Benedict has grown into his foster home and gained confidence/comfort, his energy levels and playfulness have gone up too. He likes to play with strings more than any other toys. He does a great job of scratching just the designated cardboard scratch pads, which he prefers over a scratching post.

Benedict is currently in a 3-bedroom foster house with two humans as well as a resident dog (2-year-old boy Pit mix) and a resident cat (10-year-old girl). He moved into the foster home in early April and has had his own spare room to decompress. After a few days with his door closed, a dog gate with a cat door was put in the doorway so that he could explore and retreat if he wanted away from the dog. He still has some new space nerves but has very quickly opened up to exploring the home and coexisting with the dog. The resident cat is not very interested in Benedict or the dog and keeps her space. In their brief interactions Benedict has seemed curious but the resident cat usually retreats before any real bonding. We believe he would be good with other dogs and cats. There have been no litter issues since allowing Benedict full range of the house, he uses the one in his room and the resident cat uses hers in the basement without any territorial strife yet.

The ideal home for Benedict has people who like to play with and pet their cat, he is a big lovebug. Benedict would likely do best in a home with other pets that he can befriend and socialize with. A bigger cat tree or some sort of window perch would tie together his perfect home for sunny naps in a spot that people walk by and pet him all the time.
