Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption

Mr. Bucket is a sweet and gentle soul, who almost lost his life in the shelter for the way he acted when he was just afraid.

We got to know this gentleman through the form the person filled out when they surrendered him to the shelter, and our hearts broke for this precious boy. Both her mother and grandmother died, who Mr. Bucket spent his days watching TV with, and she could not take proper care of him herself. So he lost his people and his home - no wonder he was so scared in the shelter. It also said when in a home, he is friendly, affectionate and relaxed, plays catch with toy mice, enjoys the laser pointer, balls and catnip toys, and he should have cardboard scratchers and a scratching post.

Since being with us, we are happily watching him turn into the mush that he really is, although he is still shy and hides under his bed when alone. But as soon as you get near him he pops out, starts rubbing against you and purring - he really misses human companionship and we can't wait for him to have that again!

We gave him a complete medical exam and found that he is healthy, except for a high thyroid which he is now taking a small daily pill for. Going without this pill for so long caused a *temporary* cardiac issue, that he is taking a tiny 1/4 pill only for the next few months. During his last check-up the cardiologist said his heart looks fine, and after his next recheck in June 2026 the issue will likely be resolved. We just need to give the thyroid medication a little more time to do it's job.

Mr. Bucket is an extremely kind and special boy and would love to be back in a calm, loving home again. He would do best with someone who has previous cat experience, and where he is not left alone for long periods of time. If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please let us know.
