Tom has the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). FIV+ cats can live happy and healthy lives, but do have a weaker immune system so they may be more susceptible to infections or illness. FIV is usually passed to one cat to another at birth or more commonly, through bite wounds, which is fairly unlikely to happen in homes with house cats that are happy and friendly to each other. If you have another cat in your household, at your adoption appointment, we will discuss how to carefully and slowly introduce Tom to the home environment, to make sure all felines are ready and willing to be friends!
