Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption

6 year old Boomer is a big guy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. This chonky, handsome buff tabby doesn't just enter a room — he arrives. An extroverted social butterfly, Boomer believes every human within a 10-foot radius exists solely to admire and pet him. His preferred method of securing attention? Gluing himself to your legs until you comply. (Yes, he is a professionally certified trip hazard if you attempt to walk away.)



Despite his substantial stature, Boomer is still an active, curious guy. He's not scaling curtains or bouncing off the walls, but he absolutely wants to supervise your daily activities and be involved in whatever is happening. Cooking dinner? He'll help. Folding laundry? He's there. Watching TV? Obviously that's a group activity. And his purr? Let's just say you may hear it from the next zip code over.



Like many cats, Boomer prefers his affection on his terms. He does not enjoy being picked up or handled roughly. While he's usually all over you with love and enthusiasm, he can occasionally become overstimulated if pet too firmly and may give a corrective nip. (At his size, those reminders are less “cute love bite” and more “please respect my boundaries.”) This behavior has been rare, but for everyone's comfort, we feel he'd do best in a home with teenagers and adults who understand feline body language and respectful handling.



Boomer came from a hoarding situation where he coexisted with 30+ other animals, including other cats and a couple of small dogs. While he clearly knows how to share space, he wouldn't mind being your one and only — he loves attention and isn't big on sharing the spotlight. He could live with other confident pets who won't be intimidated and will gently stand up to him if he tries to throw his weight around. However, we would not recommend him for homes with senior, shy, or special-needs pets.



And here's a fun surprise: for a cat of his... generous proportions, Boomer is an excellent mouser (don't ask us how we know). That said, he absolutely requires an indoor-only home. Our sweet boy is far too... ahem... out of shape to outrun outdoor dangers.
