Luffy has a sad story! 😭
Luffy is only a year old but has enough trauma that it has affected him quite a bit. He is looking for an understanding home and we hope you'll share this post and help us find one!
We got a message that Luffy was going to be put outdoors on one of the coldest weeks we have had recently. His owner had a new boyfriend who did not want the cat and was reportedly throwing him, kicking him and hitting him any time he approached. Before this man entered his owner's life, Luffy was outgoing and loved affection. So, he isn't a shy cat by any means. He started to learn that humans weren't to be trusted. So, by the time we got him into our care he was still outgoing but very afraid of humans approaching him. He would purr and rub against the corner of a door or play with a toy. But, approach him or move your end at him and he would swat, lunge or hiss. He thought you were going to hurt him just like he had in the past but at the same time, he craved some affection that he once knew. We think that if someone leaves Luffy alone and lets him learn to trust that he will actually get over these behaviors. He needs a home without dogs, kids and chaos. He needs to relax and trust.
