Name: Llama
DSH Female black and white
Approx 5 years old
Llama is a spunky girl who is an absolute sweetheart. She purrs all of the time and wants to be where the action is. She is also perfectly content relaxing in a cat bed by herself. She gets along with other cats but may request personal space with a quick swat of her paw especially if food is involved.
Llama was initially found as an injured stray and was with her finder for around a year before she came into the rescue in the beginning of January. When she was found, she had an injury to her leg and had dislocated her femur. Dislocated femurs must be put back in place as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours after the injury which her injury was way past this time frame. Because of this, the only options to prevent the dislocated femur from causing significant discomfort and arthritis as the head of the femur grinds against the pelvis is a procedure called a femoral head ostectomy (FHO) or amputation. These are both expensive procedures so were not pursued at that time. When she came into the rescue, she had radiographs done that showed the extent of the rubbing between these two bones and we knew she needed this surgically repaired. She had severe dental disease which we prioritized first as it was causing her significant pain. She had all but 5 teeth extracted and is so much more comfortable now. She can still eat hard food without any issues. We are now waiting for her FHO surgery. This will be done prior to her adoption being finalized.

She has lived with other cats and a small dog (11 lbs). She has been around a calm large dog (70 lbs) and did not seem to mind at all except for being confused at why it was so much larger than she is!
Location: She is currently residing at the Happy Cat Cafe (www.happycatgr.com) if you would like to meet her.
Medical: All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccines (rabies and distemper), microchipped, given flea/tick prevention and dewormer, FIV/FeLV tested, and any other veterinary care that is needed prior to adoption.
