Jason is only 3 months old, but he has already experienced more heartbreak than any kitten ever should.
He was found wandering the city streets completely alone — tiny, frail, and so very skinny. When he was brought to us, he wasn’t feeling well at all. You could see it in his eyes. He was just a baby trying to survive in a world that hadn’t been very kind to him.
We wrapped him in warmth, gave him nourishment, and promised him he was safe now. Day by day, he started to heal. His little body filled out, his energy returned, and his sweet personality began to shine through. He trusted us. He started to believe he was going to be okay.
Not long after he arrived, the person who had called animal control said they wanted to adopt him. We were so hopeful. We told Jason every single day that he was getting closer to going home. We pictured him curled up on a couch, finally knowing what forever felt like.
The day came. Friday. His adoption day.
We waited all morning. All afternoon.
As we were nearing closing time, the call finally came... they weren’t moving forward.
Our hearts shattered. For Jason. For the promises we thought were coming true.
But here’s what Jason doesn’t know yet, that wasn’t his forever. That was just a chapter. And his real family is still out there.
Today, Jason is healthy, playful, and so incredibly loving. He has the most soulful eyes. The kind that seem to ask, “Is it my turn yet?” He deserves a home where he will never be an afterthought. A home where when someone says they’re coming for him… they show up.
