DESCRIPTION

Hi, we’re Ray & Shine- a bonded pair that are looking for a forever home together!

In September of 2025, Pet Angel had a long term special needs cat named Sunny pass away. After going to the vet to say goodbye to Sunny as he was passing, our rescue director was sitting at her desk crying when there was a knock on the rescue’s front door. She opened it to find a older couple holding a little baby kitten. “Our neighbor abandoned this kitten in his trailer and hasn’t been back, can you take him? Everyone else has turned us away!” they said, as they plopped that little baby kitten into her arms. One look at that baby and something in her heart said “Sunny is sending this baby to you. This baby needs the same help you have given to Sunny, and he knows your sad so he’s sending you some love” So she said “Yes, I’ll take him,” gave the baby a bath, and named him Ray, because he is a little Ray of Sunshine from Sunny himself. And that’s how Ray joined Pet Angel at just 1 month old.

Kittens that young shouldn’t be alone, and Pet Angel didn’t have any other babies the same size, so when a nearby rescue posted a kitten that looked very similar to Ray on facebook the next day saying “This baby needs a playmate, any other shelters open to pulling her?” Pet Angel quickly reached out and said “We have a baby that’s the same size!” and Shine arrived to the rescue later that day. Shine was smaller than Ray, but the second they put the two together, Ray looked right at Shine like she was who he had been waiting for. He put his head on her back and took a nap with her, and they have been best friends ever since. When the two got a little bigger and had to be separated to be fixed and recover from their surgeries, they would reach through the holes of their recovery cages to each other and would sleep side by side, with the cage between them, until they could be reunited again. Today, the pair are often seen sleeping with their paws wrapped around each other in hammocks or beds, and even though they live with other roommates, they still seek each other out when its nap time. While not biologically related, Ray and Shine are truly best friends!

Shine is the smaller of the two, with the softest fur and the prettiest green eyes. She is so obsessed with pom pom balls that it could probably be diagnosed at a disorder at this point, she goes absolutely crazy for a pom pom and will hyper fixate on them for hours! Shine loves to watch cat TV, and sits too close to the tv to get the best view (and will seriously watch it for HOURS if you don’t turn it off!) She adores our circle cat tunnel, and loves when her roommates groom her (specifically on her head.) She gets along great with all our cats, but prefers to spend most of her time with her best friend, Ray. She is gentle, sweet, but also playful and curious!

Ray is a bit bigger than Shine, and is a big purr bucket! His purr is loud and proud! He loves cat hammocks and running on the cat wheel in his free roam room- he is on it ALL the time! Ray loves to make biscuits on the fluffy cat beds in his free roam room, chase pom pom balls across the floor (or steal pom poms other cats are playing with) and climb up high! Ray is the perfect balance between playful and active, and sweet and affectionate. He loves to come ask for pets and purr soooo loud when you give him your attention!

Shine and Ray are a bonded pair, so we are looking for a home for them together. They get along great with other cats and currently live together in a free roam room with other cats, all of which are older and bigger than them. They have never met a dog, but likely would do well with a dog with a low prey drive that will not chase them or hurt them. Shine is likely going to stay a smaller cat, so it is important that if she is adopted to a home with a dog, the dog has a low prey drive. They would also do well in a home with children. They are looking for a strictly indoor-only home, and need a family that will keep them together at all times! The duo are both fixed, microchipped, up to date on all their shots, and tested negative for FIV/FELV. They are up for adoption at Pet Angel Adoption & Rescue in Frankenmuth, and are looking for a home within the state of Michigan. If you would like to meet the pair, please read about our adoption process and submit an application online at https://petangeladoption.com/adopt-a-cat
