Toasted Marshmallow-better known as Toasted-is proof that sometimes the toughest exterior is hiding the sweetest cat.
Toasted was trapped at an apartment complex where it appeared he had been abandoned. He was borderline emaciated and understandably terrified. For the first three days with his foster mom, he hissed and growled at her. But underneath all that fear was a cat who desperately wanted to feel safe again.
Once Toasted realized he was okay, his whole personality began to emerge. Now he's a loving, gentle guy who is still learning to trust-but he's come so far.
Toasted would do best starting out in a single, quiet room where he can settle in and build confidence at his own pace. He uses his litter box perfectly and has discovered two of life's greatest pleasures: Churu squeeze treats and wet food.
He does have a few preferences when it comes to affection. His head doesn't need to be the first stop! Start with gentle chin scratches or his absolute favorite: shoulder scritches. Get it just right and you'll see his tail vibrating with pure excitement.
Toasted is still gaining weight and, more importantly, still learning that he can trust people again. He isn't necessarily a lap cat yet, but he's perfectly happy to loaf beside you while you binge-watch your favorite show.
He's wonderful with other cats, though his experience with dogs is unknown. Toasted doesn't need someone to "fix" him. He needs someone willing to give him a safe place, a little patience, and plenty of Churu while he remembers how good it feels to be loved.
