Casper - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Cary, North Carolina

Casper was turned out by his people and while left outside was attacked by animals and treated not well by people who he tried to seek safety with. Finally a good sam got him to the vet to care for his many wounds. He was pretty shut down - would hide and close his eyes when he was petted, just waiting for the hurt to come. He has learned that people can be good and would love a purrson that can be understanding of his history and know that he needs time to feel safe - but the snuggles when he does are worth every single minute of patience. Although the physical wounds have healed, Casper has some scars and definitely mental scars as well as having been gifted with FIV during one of the many brutal attacks on him. What does that mean for him and you - not a lot. Make sure he gets the same love and care that you would any cat and check out the deets about the much understood FIV at https://fivcats.com/. FIV cats can live with non FIV cats - as he does now. He is not an aggressive fellow which is how FIV is shared (a deep in the muscle bite) but with any new cats meeting regardless of FIV status we strongly urge a slow and easy introduction.

Cats are more like us than we think. Much like you would not like being tossed in a room with your future mate and told to be BFF's stat, cats too like to know that their new pal is not serial killer before letting their guard down. And if you are looking for a cat with his own emotional support cat - Linus loves Casper and helps him feel brave. Linus is super outgoing and that type of chill, unbothered personality helps to draw out Casper.
