I didn’t name them so you could!Momma Cat is quiet, gentle, chill and affectionate. She always greets me calmly, nuzzles my legs, asks for petting and then purrs deeply. She loves to be gently stroked on her back and tail, and to have the sides of her face gently nuzzled. She loves sitting on the windowsill, listening to the morning birds, sleeping on the high shelves in the walk-in closet and interacting gently and lovingly with me. She is bright and calmly curious and very relaxed once she feels safe with her person/people.Momma is incredibly kind and generous with Little Kitten. It really says something--how one creature takes care of another--and she shows great patience, humor and generosity to her playful, exuberant (and slightly demanding) kitten. She enjoys playing for short bursts, but extends her play sessions with him because he wants more. You can almost see her rolling her eyes, as if to say “ok, ok, ok, you win...let’s go!!” Then they wrestle, chase, pounce on pillows and sneak-attack pounce on each other in a very adorable way.Momma Cat has grace and is naturally very well-mannered. She moves gently and carefully through her environment, never knocking things over, always very mindful. She eats slowly and thoughtfully and takes breaks to clean her paws. In great contrast, her kitten gobbles up his canned food immediately...and then comes right over to gobble up hers too! Which she always allows, with great generosity. But now I feed them separately, or hold Little Kitten back when he is done, so Momma gets to have her full portion. Both Momma Cat and Little Kitten need to get to know new people and new things at their own pace. They need a human who will not rush them, but will let them hide and observe from a safe distance until they feel brave enough to come and explore (within a few days to a week). (A small space without a lot of hding places like a bathroom is a great way for them to adjust and get to know you.) They need humans who will wait until they approach, and then will be gentle with them, and follow their lead about how much affection they want. They both very much appreciate a calm, quiet home environment, gentle appreciation and love, and minimal hustle-bustle. Would probably not enjoy a home with a lot of activity and noise (i.e., not a fit for a home with boisterous kids). They are both lovely and affectionate, sweet, gentle, fun and playful--once they feel safe and have had a chance to get to know you!Contact me today at cayugadogrescue@gmail.com to learn more about or meet Momma Cat and/or Little Kitten!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
