Domestic Short Hair Cats Available for Adoption

A day in the life of Pinky from his owner...he almost never tries to wake me up the morning. But he heads straight for the food bowl (containing grainfree Evolve dried food from Ingles) as soon as I am up. He really likes the nutritional yeast I sprinkle on top. Then he goes outside to use the toilet. After a time he comes back in and settles in for a snooze. After another mouthful, it is time for a nap - he likes to sleep on his cat tree in the sun. Supper is more of the same. After sunset is a good time to chase something. He will chase kibble/toys that I throw down the hall - good exercise. He gets along well with properly introduced dogs. I don't know about other cats in his own house, but my neighbor has found him curled up with her cat on her couch - she leaves her cat door open. He tolerates children up to a point. The well trained children in my neighborhood don't have a problem because they know when to back off during a petting frenzy.He is affectionate, sits on laps, and likes being groomed and petted. His purr is very soft, but frequent. He is not timid. He has plenty of energy and is curious. He is not alarmed by vacuum cleaner or blender noises. He lets me clip his nails once in a while. He uses his cat tree. There have been periods when he has been strictly an indoor cat for several months - a year. There is a lot of rental property in my neighborhood, and if he gets involved with an aggressive cat, I don't let him out until the bullying cat has moved away and it is safer for him to go out again. He likes to participate when I am doing yard/garden work. He will greet passersby with a meow and a roll in both directions.He doesn't care much about people food - a bite of cheese, maybe a nibble of chicken or sardine. He does like licking tuna on occassion. But put up your bread - he chews until the bag has a rip, takes one bite of bread. Maybe he thinks it's a toy - the crinkling sound?Apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet with this friendly and outgoing fella. He was adopted from us 4 years ago but his human has become a bit unsteady on her feet and he is underfoot for attention and has become a trip hazard for her. Upon his return, he has been very welcoming to everyone and seemed unphased by being in our office. All cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered, FELV/FIV tested, microchipped, vaccinated (whatever they can have in the period theyare in our care, some will still need additional vaccines after adoption), given dewormer and flea preventative and provided care for any known illnesses during their time with us.
