Howie returned to the shelter yesterday after six years away. After being declawed, he stopped using his litter box because it hurt his feet and began urinating on furniture. His previous owners didn’t understand his behavior and no longer wanted him—he was even at risk of being euthanized.
Thankfully, BAHS was able to step in and brought Howie back to safety. With soft bedding and gentle care, he is now comfortable and using his litter box like a happy cat should.
Howie’s experience is a powerful reminder: declawing can cause lifelong pain, behavioral issues, and litter box problems. Cats deserve their claws and the chance to live without discomfort.
Now, Howie is ready for a fresh start—and he’s looking for a loving home that will give him the care and patience he deserves.
Could you be the one to give Howie his second chance?
