At first glance, you’ll notice Vlad’s gorgeous all-black coat, but his purr-sonality is even more precious!When we first brought Vlad into our home, he wasn’t sure what to make of us but, to be fair, he was born outside and hadn’t spent much time around friendly humans. Now that he has been with us for almost two months, we think he has begun to show us a truer version of himself! -Vlad wants to be around us ALL the time. When we’re at our desks, he’s lounging in his allotted desk space or at our feet. When we’re on the couch, he’s in our laps or slow blinking at us from the top of a couch cushion. When we’re in the kitchen, he’s supervising us from the floor or a cat tree. When we’re sleeping, he’s napping in between our legs or on our chests. Vlad will never get enough of you! -Vlad is a great conversationalist. When we first brought him home, we joked that he was using echolocation to become acquainted with his new surroundings; however, he now usually only meows at us when giving demands or receiving praise. Although, when tusseling with his cat friends, Vlad will hiss and yell loudly! Thankfully though, he shows all other signs of having a great time (i.e. ears and hair in the normal position, taking breaks, switching between chasing and being chased, etc.)! -Vlad is gorgeous. When illuminated by the sun, Vlad becomes a rich brown color and you can almost make out some tabby-esque stripes. -Vlad NEEDS a cat buddy. We attribute many of Vlad’s emotional victories in our home to the presence of our resident cats. He has developed a special friendship with one of our resident cats and they tumble and run together throughout the day, nap intertwined or side-by-side, and clean each other occasionally. We think that Vlad would easily form this bond with another cat that is willing to have a friend, as Vlad frequently attempts to befriend our other resident cats. Unfortunately, our other resident cats have informed us that they will be refusing to let Vlad’s love in. -Vlad loves playing with small soft toys. For example, we got an advent calendar for cats from PetSmart two years ago with tiny stuffed animal toys in it. All of our cats ignore them, but Vlad can’t get enough! We will gladly send a bunch of these little toys with him to get your collection started! -Vlad REALLY LOVES wet food. On a normal day, we give him a portion of wet food at ~7:00am and ~7:00pm and supplement with water-logged dry food throughout the day (~2-3 feedings). Because he’s still a kitten, we try to feed him whenever he shows us he is hungry (leads us to the bathroom that we previously kept him separated in before he was fully integrated with our resident cats). Vlad loves Churu and will sometimes eat freeze dried minnows as treats, but will always pass up dry treats (i.e. Temptations)! Of note, he has been evaluated for dental/jaw/throat issues and this has just been deemed a very strong preference! Additionally, if housed with other free-feeding cats, I think Vlad could adjust very well to unscheduled feeding. -Vlad does not like to be picked up. But, he has made significant progress with daily practice in our home! When we first met, Vlad would allow himself to be picked up and then hiss when set back down. Now, Vlad tolerates being picked up and moved or, on a good day, being given a quick peck on the head. He has never scratched or bitten either of his two adult fosters. -Vlad is a healthy and well-mannered boy. He sometimes has softer stools, but always makes it to the litterpan and ensures his coat is kept pristine! Of note, he has been thoroughly dewormed and his stools have been found to be within normal limits. Additionally, he uses the designated scratching materials (i.e. cardboard scratcher, carpeted wall) provided to him and we have not observed him scratching on our furniture or flooring. He does not have any ongoing health conditions and was neutered on 08/05/2026. -Vlad does not like to get his nails trimmed. He will struggle and meow loudly, but, with enough Churu, we are able to get it done and I think he is starting to resist less over time! He has never scratched or bit us during this process.
