We can only imagine what Cody’s life was like before this cage…
A life that was no doubt filled with love

For 15 years, Cody had a mom, a 97 year old mom who cared for him with her whole heart

She made sure he saw the vet every year for his wellness checks, he never missed a vaccinations and if she even guessed her boy was under the weather in any way… it was addressed immediately.
Whatever her baby needed he received

I picture him curled up safely in her lap, purring softly, with no fear in the world. She was his life. She was his home.
But life changed in a way neither of them could control.
His mom reached a point where she could no longer care for him, and the place she had to go… It wasn’t possible for Cody to come with her

Now Cody sits quietly in a cage, wondering where his mom went. If you look into his eyes, it almost feels like you can see the question there. Waiting. Hoping. Wondering if she’s coming back.
Senior cats like Cody can shut down quickly when their whole world disappears overnight. In just one week, he has lost everything he has ever known.
• He lost his mom.• He lost his home.• He was dropped at our main shelter to wait in an unfamiliar cage. • Then he’s transported to the Oasis.• And now he sits in a 4-foot run, trying to understand why his world changed so suddenly.

Because of everything he has been through, we haven’t attempted to move Cody into the community room yet. To be honest, we worry he may not thrive with more change. Right now our goal is to find him placement as soon as possible, directly from his run, so he doesn’t have to endure more upheaval.
What Cody needs most is a gentle human to remind him he is not alone. That he hasn’t been forgotten.
