Rocky came into rescue looking like he was losing the fight against the harsh realities of street life. Bloodied paws, broken teeth, and a swollen eye, it was hard to imagine how many rounds this guy had left in him had he been left to live outside. With a team of supporters, this fella has lived to come out on top, claiming victory over his fear of indoor life and accepting the riches that it offers.
A seasoned street cat, this fella had his routes and routines, which included a trusted human who would feed him on her porch. A trap was set and after many many previous attempts, the hero of our story finally stepped inside, ready to tap out of the ring of harsh outdoor living and into a life of receiving the love and care he needs and deserves to thrive.
Rocky is a big cat, and has just as big a heart. He spends his days snoozing, awaiting his next meal, and doting on the kittens in foster with him. Once the initial "getting to know you" has passed, Rocky will roll over and greet you with the tiniest meows that ever came out of such a large cat. He loves accepting head smooches and belly rubs.
Rocky handles life with calm confidence, though he'll offer a bit of justified grumbling when things get overwhelming to him. He would do fine in a home with older, cat savvy kiddos and other respectful cats but small children may be a little overwhelming to him. His reaction to dogs is unknown. Due to his blockbuster history, starting this champion in a small room to slowly acclimate him to his surroundings will ensure success.
Rocky is estimated to be about 7 years old. He is neutered, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, and has tested FIV+ and FeLV negative. If you're looking for a lover, not a fighter, with a little bit of patience until trust is built, this guy will be in your corner for life.
