Meet Rachel, the Miracle Lion!
Rachel came to TinyKittens incredibly malnourished under her magnificent floof. After a few days Rachels appetite wasn’t improving, she was very sick and we weren’t sure what was causing it, so we sent her to Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialists. While receiving immediate aggressive supportive care, pain management and antibiotics, we waited for the multitude of test results. We were all shocked to discover Rachel had Panleukopenia, one of the deadliest infectious diseases in cats. She fought a nearly impossible battle, with zero reserves. Her prognosis was grave and her labs were basically incompatible with life, but Rachels tiny body kept fighting against all odds. It took 5 long days until her labs finally started to improve and she started to eat on her own, it was such a tiny improvement but it felt so huge after feeling so hopeless. Day 8, New Years Day, Rachel finally got to come back into our care, it was just the best way to celebrate the New Year.
Her recovery took some time, but watching her improve day by day was incredible! Her extraordinary resilience astonished us, her personality finally flourished as she became healthy enough to finally experience they joys of being a pain-free. Now she is a completely healthy 7 month old kitten and she sure is making up for lost time! Rachel loves to run around and play blanket monster to steak attack her brother Tross. They were bonded before Rachel got sick, and had a wonderful reunion, so we are hoping to adopt Tross and Rachel out as a pair.
