Meet Mabel! This girl came to us after her and her brother were trapped as little kittens. Shortly after going to foster, Mabel got really sick and was diagnosed with FIP(Feline Infectious Peritonitis).
FIP is a mutation of the feline strand of coronavirus that commonly occurs in cats under 2. It used to have a 100% mortality rate, but thanks to advancements in medicine, it has since become treatable!
Mabel has what is referred to as "neuro FIP", a form of FIP that tends to be severe - often showing as ocular and neurological deterioration. Mabel experienced extreme neurological symptoms and became partially paralyzed and nearly lost her life if it wasn't for the life saving medication she received.
She is currently in the observation period of her treatment and is doing much better, but is currently experiencing trouble using the litterbox.
If interested in foster to adopt, please ask the staff for more information!
