MEET ANTONIO Are you looking for a handsome gentleman to enjoy the spring with? Then Antonio just might be your guy! This fluffy dude was was born outside and came to us through our Community Cats program. Because he was so fearful, he went to foster with a tiny tiger tamer who helped him learn how to be brave and learn to trust. Antonio is now ready for the next phase of his journey -- where he can continue to blossom in his forever home. Since he is still a little nervous, he needs an experienced cat owner who has some experience with undersocialized kittens. No small children for this little cutie! But he would love a cat friend or two and would be tolerant of a calm, repspectful dog in the home. HIs foster mom is really proud of the progress made, but he will still need a proper transtion to his forever home. To help her acclimate to her new home we have some reccomendations. WHAT TO EXPECT *Hiding: while she is acclimating to her new home, we highly reccomend confinement to a cage for a short period of time. This way she can learn about their new surroundings but still feel secure in the crate. This will also eliminate the worry of “losing them” in your home — kittens will find anywhere to hide! Don'd have a crate? no worries...We can lend you one until you no longer need it. *Transition: moving to a new environment can be scary, and potential backslide in behavior is to be expected. If they purred here at the shelter, they will purr again in your home but it may take some time. Be patient while they learn the new patterns, sounds, and smells of your home. *Hands-On Work at Home: When get your kitten home, it is important to work with them. Find wet food that your kitty loves and pet them while they are eating. If petting is too scary, feed them by hand first, so they quickly learn that hands are not a scary thing. Pairing yummy food with handling is the quickest way to teach an under-socialized kitten that petting is a good thing and it can really get that purr engine running! Antonio is currently up to date on all vaccines, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and has been seen by our veterinarian.
