Benjamin Button should never have had to start over.

He was adopted from us as an eight-week-old kitten, just like every rescue dream of. We believed he had found his forever family. Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, Benjamin has found himself back in rescue after living in a home where he was repeatedly picked at by young children. Over time, he learned that his boundaries weren't always respected, and now he's working hard to relearn that people can be safe.

Despite everything, Benjamin is still an incredibly loving cat.

He is a huge affection seeker who absolutely melts for pets, happily headbutting your hand over and over again asking for more. His foster describes him as a total lover boy who wants nothing more than to be close to his people once he knows he can trust them.

Benjamin is also wonderfully curious and expressive. He loves exploring his surroundings, quietly observing everything around him with those big, thoughtful eyes. Every day his confidence grows a little more as he realizes he no longer has to stay on guard.

Like many cats who have had their boundaries ignored, Benjamin can still become nervous when something startles him. A loud noise, an unexpected movement, or something unfamiliar may cause him to growl as a way of saying, "I'm scared." But that's all it is—fear. His foster has watched him become more confident every single day, and those moments are already becoming fewer and farther between. Underneath it all is a cat who desperately wants to trust again.

Because of his past, Benjamin is looking for a very specific home. He cannot live with children. He deserves a calm, predictable environment where his boundaries will always be respected. Other cats are welcome, and dogs will be considered on a case-by-case basis as long as they are exceptionally calm and respectful.

Benjamin doesn't need someone to "fix" him. He simply needs someone willing to meet him where he is, give him the patience he deserves, and allow him to heal at his own pace.

We promised Benjamin once that he had found his forever.

This time, we intend to keep that promise.
