Thor was rescued when we received notice that his owner was moving back to Tennessee for a very sad reason. She had moved here in July with her beloved Thor, whom she had owned since he was a kitten. She was a teacher and engaged so moved to be with her fiance. However, just a couple weeks before she reached out, her fiance had died unexpectedly and she was now needing to go back to TN and move in with a friend and her highly allergic to cats son. She assured us that Thor was amazing (and he is) and got along with other cats and dogs. He actually had lived with her college-aged son at one point so he has been exposed to many people and situations. Thor hit the ground running. He was not afraid of his new home, including a 100-pound dog, or any of the people or cats that lived there. Thor is a big boy, almost 16 pounds, and looks even bigger because he is so fluffy. His coat will require maintenance and brushing or it will mat, but he is in good shape currently. He has always been inside only. If interested in meeting this big handsome lug and possibly adopting him, please go to furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and submit an application. You will be contacted within 24 hours (if not, please check your spam folder). Thank you!
NOTE: This is verbatim what his owner said about him, "My fiance passed away two weeks ago and I am having to pack up our entire lives and home and move in with a friend to finish out teaching this school year before moving back to TN. I have to rehome my sweet 5-1/2 year old cat Thor and am trying to avoid sending him to a shelter. He is the most loving, chonky, cuddle buddy. He craves attention and affection. He does have a sensitive tummy and it can be exasperated by stress which I know dropping him at a shelter would do. Could you please help find a foster for him so he doesn’t have to go to the shelter? I hate to part with him but I cannot take him with me. Thor has actually lived with at least one other cat most of his life. He was a rescue kitten from a litter that were all strays along with their mama. He was fostered up until about 6 months with several other cats and dogs until we brought him into our home with our other cat. Long story short, he does great with other cats and dogs. He lived with my college son for a while in TN which is where I moved here from to be with my fiancée. As my son is about to graduate, I took Thor back in around Christmas, not knowing what lay ahead in the new year. Thor is great with new people. He just wants to be loved on. He is a huge cuddle bug. If I could take him with me I would, but I am just not able to. He was supposed to go get groomed and an updated vet check in January with my fiancée, but life has a twisted way of doing things. He is never aggressive. He doesn’t love his belly being touched a lot, but he will nip at you, not aggressively attack. He is good about giving signs of what he likes and does not like. He is a gentle giant. My bonus daughter thought of him as a giant fluffy pillow most of the time. He was fantastic with her and she is 8. He never scared her when she pet him or when she would pick him up. This is breaking my heart but I want what’s best for him and I would never just put him out on the street. He has always been an indoor cat."
