American Shorthair Cats Available for Adoption

Sweet and snuggly Venus is an approximately one year old Torti girl, looking for a loving home with lots of cuddles. Venus came to us pregnant, just days before giving birth. This sweet girl did a fantastic job birthing her kittens, but a few weeks later she herself became seriously ill. After receiving emergency care followed by excellent TLC in her foster home, Venus is ready for her forever home. This mama deserves it!

Venus is a playful kitty who absolutely loves to run and play with her people. She plays both independently with her toys and with her foster mom. Afterwards, she enjoys snuggling up with her foster mom for a nap. She’ll climb right up to your neck and rub your face with her face! Venus usually climbs into bed to sleep pressed against you at night. She is a love bug who just wants to be around you. She is a fantastic companion cat.

It is important to know that Venus likes contact on her own terms. Sometimes she wants you to pet her while she cuddles, and other times she prefers just to be close to you. If you're not reading her clues she may softly put her mouth on you to tell you that she's not interested in petting just then. If she's laying by herself sleeping, she doesn't welcome petting.

She is a generally quiet kitty... until it’s time to eat! She’ll happily chirp and chat with you while waiting for breakfast. She is a brave girl, settling into her new foster home in just a week. Loud noises can scare her, but she’ll just run and hide until the coast is clear. She will do well in any patient and loving home.

Venus is looking for a home without other cats. She is a person centered cat, through and through. She also loves her canine housemate. She has also met some kids and strangers, and was friendly with everyone. Because of her boundaries around petting, young kids are not a fit. Venus would do best in a home with an adult or two, maybe a dog, who are looking for company and cuddles on her terms, and who will love to play with her.

She is vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative, spayed, microchipped, and dewormed. She is being fostered in Stamford, CT, but don’t worry - we travel for good homes!

Venus has had a hard year and she is looking for a loving forever home where she can really come out of her shell. She has such a big heart and will be a devoted companion for whoever chooses to love her!
