Forest arrived at GLPR from downtown Chicago with a left wing so severely injured that emergency amputation was the only option. She made it through surgery, and would like everyone to know she’s just fine, actually, she’s better than fine — she’d like you to take a look at that tail.
Her fantail is not a compensation strategy. It is simply part of who Forest is: a bird with a deeply jaunty sense of self and no apparent interest in dwelling on what she’s been through. She carries herself like someone who has already handled the hard part and is now focused on more important matters, like looking incredible and being admired.
Because she has one wing, Forest isn’t able to fly, which means she needs a safe, ground-accessible living setup where she can move around without risk of falls or injury. She’s adapted well to her situation and now patiently awaits a loving forever home that understands her physical needs and can give her the space and stability to continue being exactly who she is.
Forest survived something serious and came out the other side still very much herself. She’s ready for a home that can match that positive energy!
