Figuero Four Toes’ name sure tells his story! This handsome boy was found injured and struggling outside of a Jewel Osco grocery store during a snowstorm - can you imagine how cold and scared he must have been? Thankfully, dedicated volunteer Ren spotted him and didn’t hesitate to pick up this vulnerable bird and bring him to safety.
When Figuero was found, he had a broken wing and was missing four toes—serious injuries that left him unable to fly and struggling to survive outdoors in harsh winter conditions. The combination of a broken wing and missing toes meant Figuero had no chance of making it on his own in that snowstorm. But thanks to Ren’s quick action and compassionate heart, Figuero got his second chance!
Today, Figuero is nonflighted due to his wing injury, but this resilient boy has adapted beautifully to ground-level life and has embraced being a house pigeon with enthusiasm. His missing four toes give him his distinctive name and a unique waddle, but he gets around just fine and doesn’t let it hold him back - he wants to explore! His curiosity means he’s always investigating what’s going on and checking out new things around the house.
Figuero Four Toes awaits a forever home that will appreciate his curious nature, accommodate his nonflighted status and missing toes (soft, flat surfaces are perfect for him!), and explore the world with him at ground level.
