Meet Phoenix, Catcher & Susie — Three Cockatiels Looking for Their Next Loving Home
Their owner is moving to Canada and is heartbroken to part with them, but she hopes to find adopters who will cherish them as much as she has. Cockatiels can live 15–25 years, so these three still have many bright, chirpy years ahead.
Below are their individual stories and needs.
Phoenix & Catcher — Bonded Pair (Must Stay Together)
Gray Cockatiels • Males • Ages 15 & 12
Phoenix
Phoenix is a gentle, sweet 15‑year‑old boy with a remarkable rescue story. He was saved from a severe neglect situation 10 years ago, after being found abandoned in a house with 12 other cockatiels—three of whom had already passed. Despite everything he endured, Phoenix blossomed into a friendly, trusting bird who happily steps up and enjoys human company.
Because he missed having bird companionship, his owner adopted Catcher to be his friend—and the two have been inseparable ever since.
Catcher
Catcher, now 12, came from a home with lovebirds where he was the only cockatiel. He arrived with an injured wing, and the vet believes he was grabbed roughly at some point in his past. As a result, he is afraid of hands and does not step up, though he is still very friendly and social in his own way.
Catcher relies on Phoenix for comfort and confidence, and the two boys must be adopted together.
Susie — Independent Lady Seeking a Patient Home
Light Gray Cockatiel with Yellow Feathers • Female • Age 12
Susie has had a tougher road. Originally kept in a very small cage, she has been rehomed twice and spent much of her early life isolated. Because of this, she is not bonded to Phoenix or Catcher—and she isn’t bonded to people either.
Susie is a sweet, quiet girl who deserves a stable, patient home where she can finally settle in and feel safe. She does not need to be adopted with the boys and would do well with someone who understands that trust may take time.
Diet & Lifestyle Requirements
These birds have been lovingly cared for and have a healthy, enriching routine that must be maintained:
- Daily chop: arugula, basil, broccoli, cauliflower
- Seed mix: Kaytee Supreme
- Free‑flight lifestyle: They free‑fly in their room all day and love to perch up high to sleep.
- Cage habits: They never choose to sleep in their cage, but they can sleep in one if needed.
- Wings must NOT be clipped.
- They must be allowed to free‑fly during the day.
These birds will thrive with adopters who:
- Understand cockatiel behavior and body language
- Can provide a safe, bird‑proofed free‑flight space
- Are patient with birds who may need time to trust
- Will never clip their wings
- Want to give these resilient, loving birds the love they have earned!
