Conure Birds Available for Adoption

Maui, at roughly 2 years old, is a rambunctious youngster who loves nothing better to do than cause trouble, make a ruckus, and eat his weight in whatever food he can get his beak on. This little guy is a tornado of pure conure energy so his adoptive family should go ahead and start bracing themselves now, because he is proving to be a mighty handful in foster care.

Things that Maui's future family will need to prepare for, in no particular order: energetic beak bonking, mumbles under his breath that sound like chanting, and an endless supply of safflower seeds to coax him into acting somewhat less like a wolverine in a bird's body. If this sounds charming to you and not at all intimidating, then Maui is your perfect match!

This little bird is going to bring much joy and entertainment to a very lucky family. Although full of conure sass, he is desperate for love and has a sweet side that is a joy to witness. He loves hanging out with his foster family and will politely perch on their knees and accept cheek scratches. He is hand tame but prefers to bite first and ask questions later. His foster family is working on this and reports that his biting is not at all aggressive, but merely a result of misdirected overstimulation. He has been working on target training to help regulate his excitement and he has been loving this! He is very smart and took to training right away, so this, along with paying close attention to his body language and avoiding direct interaction when he is overly excited, will help prevent any nips for his future family!

Maui would love to be part of a family who can provide lots of interaction and playtime. He is very skilled at flying and isn't afraid to zoom back and forth, ultimately landing on a head or shoulder. He thrives on being the center of attention and wants to feel like he is an important member of his flock. He would do best in a household without any shared walls because, while small, he has a loud voice and is not afraid to use it! Playful and loving, this little guy would be perfect for an active household who is searching for a companion to liven things up.
