Conure Birds Available for Adoption

Barely ripe, but with stars in his eyes, meet Mango the Sun Conure. Mango is such a little baby-- no, really, he (DNA sexed male) is just over 6 months old! This little stone fruit with wings came to STAR after his first adoptive family realized just how vocal Sun Conures can be.

Being so young, Mango is just starting to grow into his wings and his voice. He tends to flock call when you leave the room or when he can't see what everyone's doing, since he's just a little nosey, but maintains an easy volume when you're in the room with him.

He's eager to be with people, stepping up easily with a beak to sometimes guide his reach. He loves to sit on your shoulder and preen your nose hairs or try his hand at hair styling. He's an adventurous little squirt who likes to climb on eye glasses or dangle and swing from the sides of his cage.

Mango is a wiggly worm who doesn't yet have his sea legs due to being a tiny little baby, but he'll get there some day! He'll climb on just about any perch and has tried every toy offered-- this is prime time to learn his interests and start to spoil him rotten.

Mango is very interested in other birds, and can't wait until he can really fly to visit with his foster siblings, as his wings were clipped before his arrival at STAR. He currently mostly flutters to the floor, so care should be taken to ensure the adoptive home is fully baby-bird-proof as he gets his bearings and learns the ropes.

While Mango doesn't speak clearly yet, he's got a lot on his mind and will share grumbles or mumbles as you spend time with him. As a little guy with his whole life ahead of him, baths are a fascinating and fun time, especially in the sink with a trickle from the faucet to add to the splashing!

His adoptive owner should be patient about noise and recognize that Sun Conures aren't known as quiet birds, and he would do best in a home without shared walls.
