Clyde is a beautiful Yellow-Naped Amazon with a lifetime of love behind him. Estimated to be born around 1980, he spent nearly 40 years in one home before coming into our care when his owner became ill. That kind of history stays with a bird, and you can hear it in the sweet phrases he still says, like “hello Clyde,” “time to go to bed,” and even a gentle “happy birthday.”
Because of his disabilities, the world can feel a little scary for Clyde. He is blind in his right eye and has limited vision in his left, and he struggles with balance due to crooked toes on his left foot. New environments, sudden movements, or unfamiliar sounds can be overwhelming for him, and he may have occasional night frights. He relies heavily on consistency, patience, and a calm presence to feel safe.
But when Clyde feels secure, you can see just how special he is. There is something incredibly touching about a bird who has known one home for so long, now learning to trust again in a new space. He doesn’t need much—just someone willing to move at his pace, speak gently, and offer him the stability he once had.
Clyde is looking for a soft place to land. A home that understands that while the world may feel big and uncertain to him now, it doesn’t have to stay that way. With the right person, Clyde can feel safe again—and that kind of bond is truly something special.
