NICOLAS

male, small, young
DESCRIPTION
Nicolas is a 1-2 year old Terrier mix, likely with some Yorkie. He landed at Beeville Animal Control after a Good Samaritan witnessed him being abused by an unhoused person. Unfortunately this sweetie sat there for two weeks and after nobody claimed him he was at risk for euthanasia since they only have 5-6 kennels. We weren't going to let that happen and stepped in to save him.
Nicolas is a very sweet, affectionate and playful boy. He wants to play all the time, but is strictly a girl dog boy (he doesn't like to share his home with other males, but does great at the dog park). We think he would be best in an active household and would benefit from a canine sister, or two, to ensure he gets his play time. His play style is rough and tumble and vocal, but he can also be submissive when playing. Nicolas has an affinity for squeaky and loves his belly rubs! He does have an off switch when you put him in his kennel and when he wants to cuddle on the couch or in bed.
This happy boy is good on leash, good with kids, and would make a great apartment dog. He does wear a belly band and does great with it!
Our best guess is that Nicolas is perhaps a Yorkshire
Terrier mix (he's bigger than a full Yorkie)- but playing 'guess the breed,' for street dogs is really hard!
Nicolas has traveled up from San Antonio, Texas, for a new life in the sunshine and mountains of Colorado! He is being fostered in Denver, available to meet!
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Yorkshire Terrier, also known as Yorkie, is a small and glamorous toy dog breed known for its long, flowing coat and spirited personality. Originating from England, these affectionate and intelligent dogs make wonderful companions for individuals and families alike. With a weight of around 7 pounds, Yorkies are portable and adaptable, thriving in both city apartments and rural settings. Despite their small size, they possess a bold and confident nature, always ready for fun and adventure.
