Introducing a dog so fabulous, they named her twice -- Piper Star.
Described as a "sweet diva" by her previous people, this 8-year-old, 8-pound Yorkie has perfected the balance of sassy and soft. She's playful when it counts, snuggly when it matters, and carries herself with the quiet confidence of someone who knows she's delightful -- and has yet to encounter any evidence to the contrary.
She loves walks -- the kind where she can glide along like she's on a runway, taking in the world while graciously allowing the world to catch a glimpse of her gorgeous self.
She enjoys other small dogs, has lived with children, and has fabulous house manners, because of course she does.
And yet -- here she is.
Because the kids were young once, and they played with her, and now they're older, and they don't. Which is... an explanation, I suppose, but not a particularly good one. Piper Star did not outgrow them. She did not become less loving, less loyal, or less deserving of a place in her own family.
So now she's waiting for people who understand something simple and important -- you don't outgrow love, you don't outgrow family, and you definitely don't outgrow a small dog who has been right there with you the whole time.
Piper Star is ready for a home that recognizes there's a bit of a celebrity in their midst -- and also understands that, in her eyes, they'll be the real stars.
Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA, with visiting hours from 9am to noon, including weekends and holidays.
