Smokey was carried thru the barn doors with incredible care. He had suffered multiple severe pelvic fractures, and his prognosis was extremely guarded. Due to the extent of his injuries and medical needs, he was placed on a euthanasia list at the shelter. But the moment we saw his sweet face, we knew we had to give him a chance.
Five months later, Smokey's transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.
With the dedication of his foster mom, Rhonda, and the right environment to heal, Smokey has exceeded every expectation. He is now medically cleared and thriving—running around the backyard, enjoying walks, snuggling on the couch, and simply getting to be a dog again.
Smokey currently lives happily with a pack of small dogs, a cat, and a teenager who absolutely adores him. Under Rhonda's guidance, he has blossomed into a well-rounded, loving little companion.
While Smokey has healed beautifully, potential adopters should understand that his injury history may impact him in the future. Although his hips are stable and he is doing wonderfully, there is a higher likelihood that he could need additional support or orthopedic care later in life. No one can predict what the future holds, but we believe in being transparent so Smokey can find the perfect forever home.
