Soy was rescued from Incheon City animal shelter and treated for parvovirus and a skin infection both fully resolved before she entered foster care. She arrived healthy, bouncy, and ready to find her family.
-- PEOPLE --
Soy is not the dog who runs to greet a stranger at the door. She watches carefully from a distance first and if you make the mistake of pushing toward her before she's ready, she will let you know. But stay calm, give her space, and let her come to you. She will. Once she does, she presses herself against you, rubs her face on you, and acts like she has known you her whole life. Treats help: a few in your hand and she's yours within minutes. She responds the same way with women, men, and children cautious at first, warm and devoted once she feels safe. She has had limited exposure to children but responds to them the same as adults, and does best when they approach her calmly and without rushing.
-- OTHER DOGS --
Soy lives with a large mixed-breed foster dog and plays enthusiastically with her though she occasionally gets told off for being too boisterous and rolls onto her back to appease. Now that they've bonded, she also stands her ground a little more. With unfamiliar large dogs she needs time: at off-leash parks she warms up once she feels comfortable, but if an unknown dog rushes her too aggressively she will tuck her tail, retreat, and if cornered may show her teeth and growl. She prefers smaller dogs in off-leash settings. On-leash, she passes other dogs without reaction.
-- CATS & CHILDREN --
Soy met a resident cat at a cafe and showed no interest did not approach, stare, or react. She has not been tested with cats in a home setting. Outdoor indifference alone does not confirm indoor cat safety, and homes with cats should plan for a careful, gradual introduction.
Children: see the People section above. She is best suited to calm, patient children who will let her set the pace.
-- DAILY LIFE --
Soy is an active puppy who needs engagement and company. She gets two walks of 30 or more minutes daily, with longer outings on weekends. Indoors she rests on the sofa or beside whoever is in the room, and sleeps in bed with her foster family at night.
She is still working on outdoor-only potty training. She uses indoor pads reliably and went fully outdoor at a home with yard access with routine and opportunity, the transition is expected to come easily.
She is teething and will mouth everything within reach: tissues, slippers, plastic bags, and items left on low tables. Food packaging left out will be investigated. Furniture chewing has stopped as she nears the end of her teething phase, but wallpaper with peeling edges should be secured before she arrives.
She has separation anxiety when left completely alone she barks in a bark-rest-bark pattern and does not settle. When another dog is present, she is calm and settled for up to 10 hours. A dog companion or a person home for most of the day is strongly recommended.
Barking: she barks briefly while waiting for meals, at outdoor sounds, and when unfamiliar people enter the home. She settles once the situation is familiar.
Car rides: motion sickness is improving significantly. She rides best when her face is supported a bumper bed or similar works well. On a four-hour trip she settled and slept once she could rest against something.
-- EXERCISE --
Soy needs approximately 60 minutes of daily exercise. She gets two walks of 30 or more minutes each, with longer weekend outings including dog parks and dog-friendly cafes. She loves to run and will chase falling leaves. She picks up food off the ground watch her closely on walks. No leash reactivity toward other dogs, cats, or most distractions. She startles at sudden loud noises or fast movements outdoors and may jump keep her leash secure.
-- HEALTH --
Soy was treated for parvovirus and a skin infection before entering foster care both fully resolved with no lasting effects. Currently healthy. One ear produces excess wax on a recurring basis and will need occasional cleaning. She scratches frequently, though no allergy has been confirmed her foster suspects seasonal dryness. Monthly parasite prevention: NexGard on the 3rd of each month.
-- IDEAL HOME --
Soy is happiest in a home with at least one other dog. She leans on her canine companions heavily and is genuinely anxious when left alone without them. If she goes to a single-dog home, her adopter should expect to be home for most of the day, at least during her adjustment period. She has puppy energy and does best with a dog who can keep up with her and burn it off together.
She needs a family patient enough to let her come to them first, and experienced enough with dogs to read her signals. She eats fast and loves food deeply portion control and weight monitoring will matter as she grows.
Not the right fit: homes that expect immediate warmth, homes where she would be alone for long stretches without a dog companion, or first-time dog owners unfamiliar with shy or cautious temperaments.
Soy came to us as a sick puppy from a city shelter. She has come so far. The moment she trusts you, she is completely all in and the right family will find that she was worth every minute of patience.
