WARREN

Shepherd
🇺🇸
Raleigh, North Carolina
May 6th
male, large, adult

DESCRIPTION

Warren has come a long way since he first arrived in foster care, and every day he shows a little more of who he is. He's got a big, expressive German Shepherd-esque tail that tells you everything you need to know about how he's feeling-and these days, we're seeing it in full display. It's pretty glorious.

He loves being around other dogs, has been good with cats, and is genuinely one of the most affectionate dogs once he's comfortable. He likes being around his people and is always up for some petting. When he needs a moment, he'll head to his safe space: his crate. At bedtime, he'll walk right in when you tell him to and sleep through the night.

A few things to know going in: Warren can be a flight risk during the initial acclimation period, so a secure setup matters in those first days. That said, he settles in quickly once he starts to get his bearings. Slick floors are a current challenge (he won't walk on them), but some rugs or yoga mats will fix that immediately. Loud noises and excessive barking are his main triggers and can make him anxious, but he's making real progress every day.

Warren is currently heartworm positive and mid-treatment, so activity is intentionally kept moderate. Once treatment is complete, he'll be ready and willing to do more. The rescue will continue to cover the costs of his heartworm treatment, even if Warren finds his perfect family before that is finished.

Warren is a really good boy (some may say the best boy!) who just needs a little time to show it. He's going to be a wonderful addition to someone's family!
