OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found.

Meet Adela — a gentle soul with a heart full of quiet joy and resilience. Adela’s story began in a place no dog should ever have to call home. She was rescued from an overcrowded property in Mexico where more than 200 dogs were living in extremely poor conditions, facing an uncertain and heartbreaking fate.

When authorities stepped in, these dogs were at risk of being euthanized. But Adela held on — and that hope saved her life. When she first arrived, Adela was understandably confused. Her little body was covered in ticks and fleas, and she was battling parasites. Yet even through it all, she met the world with a soft smile and a brave spirit. From day one, she chose trust. She chose love.

Today, Adela has blossomed into a beautifully balanced and sweet-natured girl. She is calm, obedient, and incredibly loyal, but she also has a playful side that shines when the moment is right. She gets along wonderfully with both humans and other dogs, and she absolutely loves exploring the world through curious sniffs and gentle walks.

In the home, Adela is everything you could hope for. She is crate trained, enjoys car rides, and happily joins you for neighborhood strolls. She’s learning her routines quickly, including where to potty, and she adapts beautifully to dogs of different energy levels. Above all, she simply loves being near her people — her constant smile says it all.

One of the sweetest (and saddest) parts of Adela’s journey is that she doesn’t quite know what toys are yet. We believe she may have never had one of her own. But give her a treat, and you’ll see her eyes light up — it’s one of the many small ways she shows her gratitude and joy.
