DESCRIPTION
Ridge is a two-year-old neutered male Armenian Gampr, a traditional livestock guardian breed known for loyalty, independence, and a strong protective instinct. True to his heritage, Ridge is steady, observant, and bonds deeply with his people once trust is established. Ridge does well with children and has a calm, tolerant nature, though due to his size and strength, Big Hearts for Big Breeds Rescue recommends a home with kids approximately 8 years and older. He is kennel trained and settles comfortably in his crate, which he views as his safe space. He is currently working on leash manners and continues to improve with consistent handling and guidance. Like many livestock guardian breeds, Ridge benefits from structure, patience, and a confident handler on walks and in new environments. With other dogs, Ridge can do well with proper introductions and thoughtful pairing. He does best with respectful canine companions and slow, intentional introductions to ensure everyone is set up for success. Ridge is seeking a home familiar with or open to learning about livestock guardian breed traits—someone who appreciates his calm strength, provides steady leadership, and offers him a stable environment where he can thrive as a companion.
