DESCRIPTION

I'm a 7-year-old black shepherd, about 70 pounds of loyal, loving, slightly goofy best friend. I used to have my person-my whole world-but they passed away recently, and I've been trying to figure things out ever since. Right now, I spend most of my days alone, with kind people stopping by to feed me twice a day... but it's not the same. I miss having my human. I miss being part of a home.

I'll be honest with you-I've gotten a little lonely. So lonely that my skin has started to show it. It's not who I really am, just what happens when a dog who loves connection doesn't get enough of it.

Because here's the real me:

I'm affectionate, confident, and playful. I LOVE fetch-like, throw-the-ball-again-no-seriously-again level love. I'm also a big fan of snuggling, especially if it means I get to sleep on the bed next to you. That's where I feel safe.

I'm good with kids and other dogs-sometimes a little aloof at first, but friendly once I warm up. I really enjoy having other dogs around to play with. I do bark at dogs through the window (hey, I've got to keep an eye on things), but I'm much happier actually meeting them and making friends.

I've got good house manners, use a dog door, and I'm comfortable with stairs and car rides. What I really need is a fenced yard to run in, someone to throw the ball for me, and-most importantly-a home where I'm not alone all the time.

I don't need perfect. I just need present.

Right now, the people caring for me are worried about my future. They don't want to lose me, but they also know this isn't the life I deserve. I'm not ready to give up-I just need someone to see me and say, "Come on, Cody. Let's go home."

If you've got room in your life for a loyal companion who just wants to love and be loved... I'm right here.
