Shar Pei Dogs Available for Adoption in West Peoria, Illinois

Meet Onyx Paradise, a 10 week old Shar-Pei mix puppy. Onyx is as full of personality as he is cute. He won't go play until he gets his snuggles when his foster mom gets home from work. He already knows sit and out. He's learning wait and down plus he is partially potty trained. Onyx is great with kids and other dogs but will chase his 2 kitty housemates when they run. He currently weighs 12# and we expect him to be 30-40# full grown. This breed is not for every family. They MUST be socialized, they MUST be trained consistently. They will often need special care with, ears, eyes and wrinkles. We will be looking for families that understand the breed along with their needs. These are puppies that typically will not accept a new family down the road, so you are it. You are their entire world. These pups will require an owned home vs rented due to breed restrictions at many places.

The Shar Pei is a distinctive breed known for their deep wrinkles and blue black tongue. Originally from China, these medium sized dogs are loyal, independent, and protective of their families. Shar Peis have a unique appearance with a hippopotamus like face and a broad, padded muzzle. Their coat can be either horse coat or brush coat, coming in a variety of colors. While they can be aloof with strangers, Shar Peis are devoted companions with a calm demeanor, making them wonderful family pets.
